On a weekday, I-95 North during rush hour can get on anyone’s nerves, but on October 13 the scene was completely different. There was no car crash, no parking lot of stopped cars; instead everyone was driving at the usual rate of 70 mph. As I arrived and paid to park, Y-100 stated that Gym Class Heroes was going to be coming into the studio. Great, I thought! The show is going to end later than usual, which doesn’t help a high school-er who barely gets enough sleep as it is.

Luckily the line wasn’t too long, and Miami’s heat is slowly subsiding as the cool, crisp weather is nearly upon us. Entering the venue, it was clear that the show wasn’t sold out, and for once the crowd didn’t have band shirt wearing teens, instead it was mostly filled with older adults, drunk on the expensive beer that was being served.

The tour poster stated that there was only going to be two bands playing: Gym Class Heroes and The Dirty Heads. But to the surprise of all, Outasight’s two members stepped on stage. Rapper Richard Andrew, from Yonkers, New York, manages to mix pop background music with his original lyrics; Songs like Cee Lo Green’s “Forget You” and Justin Timberlake’s “SexyBack” blasted through the DJ’s speakers as Andrew sang his songs over them. Although you might have never heard of Outasight, you might have seen the new Pepsi commercial on X Factor. He sings the song in it called “Tonight Is The Night” from his new album Get It Together. Once the song came off, Revolution turned into a rave complete with the lights and techo dance moves. All we were missing were the fluffies that ravers wear on their legs.

Gym Class Heroes ended the night with “Stereo Hearts,” and although Adam Levine didn’t show up, their act was definitely the best of the night.

After Outasight jumped off stage, the curtain closed as usual and dubstep was blasted throughout the venue. It was comical seeing the adults cover their ears and wonder why the younger generation listened to this. About 20 minutes later, the curtain rose and the light-up drum set and banner of Gym Class Heroes were visible. Cheering and clapping ensued as they opened up with “Live A Little.” Front-man Travie McCoy couldn’t stop stating his love for South Florida since he just moved to nearby Aventura. They played crowd favorites like “Cupid’s Chokehold,” “Viva La White Girl,” “Cookie Jar,” among many others. “Billionaire” was my personal favorite because at the end of the song the band made the crowd sing along to the chorus we all knew by heart. Gym Class Heroes ended the night with “Stereo Hearts,” and although Adam Levine didn’t show up, their act was definitely the best of the night.

The Dirty Heads are a band I knew nothing about. After doing some internet research I found out that they hail from Huntington Beach, California and were founded in 1996. They took quite a while to set up, but the adults didn’t mind, being under the influence of their Budweisers. Looking throughout the crowd, I saw that most of the younger teens left after Gym Class Heroes left the stage and I thought maybe this was because the headlining band wouldn't be that good. Stepping onto the stage, I realized this wasn’t the case, it was that their music was a bit more outdated than what people like to hear now. All in all, the night went pretty well, and upon exiting Revolution I saw all of Gym Class Heroes jumping into a van heading into the depths of Miami, the Magic City.
