Marina & the Diamonds
Electro Pop - Signed - UK
I wish I had recommended Marina ages ago, just to give myself some credit for “discovering” her…but too late! Marina’s music is starting to hit the States and many producers in California are looking into bringing her over. I desperately pray they do and SOON! Marina’s upbeat and energetic vibe reflects perfectly in her music. Her sense of style is also a major plus. Marina doesn’t exaggerate and most definitely won’t get old like Lady Gaga. There is no need for her to sing about her sexual encounters or drag her ass in a thong bikini and leather jacket to get attention. Just check out her video for my beloved song, “Mowgli’s Road.” Her lyrics are relatable and true. Original, funky and fresh, Marina & the Diamonds deserves to at least be listened to. Just check out “Hollywood” and you’ll want more!

Zombina and the Skeletones
Horror Rock – Unsigned – Liverpool (UK)
I remember first listening to Zombina and the Skeletones in high school. I’m not sure how I came across it but I distinctly remember falling in love with their song “Nobody Likes You When You’re Dead.” Growing up with the Misfits, it is almost impossible to not appreciate a horror rock band, especially when the lead singer is a woman! What I love most about this band is that their music is strictly fun and you can hear it in their voices. There is no need to overanalyze their metaphors. They are an energetic band that only makes me happy and satisfies my need for horror. I usually rock Zombina and the Skeletones when I am shooting zombies on my Xbox 360, especially to “I Was a Human Bomb for the F.B.I.” There is nothing better than coming home, kicking off my heels, opening a bottle of red wine and blasting Zombina while I save the world from a Zombie Apocalypse!

Ian Hunter
Glam Rock - Signed - Shropshire (England)
The only reason why I love this 71-year-old musician is because his song, “Good Man in a Bad Time” was played in my favorite vampire movie, Fright Night. Every time I hear this song I daydream that I am dancing seductively with that sexy vampire Jerry Danridge (Chris Sarandon), just like in that movie scene. Before Hunter became a solo artist he was the front man for Mott the Hoople. They worked on numerous occasions with David Bowie. Their most recognized collaboration was for Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. So, if you are Bowie fan, you’ll absolutely love Ian Hunter.
