We’re celebrating 9 years of doing so with passion and above all expressing ourselves OUTLOUD—and in our own voice. No one really knew what to expect when OUTLOUD was launched. We were just a group of college and high school kids with the desire to write and produce something really ‘cool’. Fast forward 9 years and we’ve done pretty damn well. Unlike staff at traditional papers, OUTLOUD is not our fulltime job; it’s our forum where we can push the envelope and express ourselves without restrictions about topics that matter most to us. In addition to writing in our free time, as if we really had any, many of us go to school and work either part time, full time or both. Everyone who works for OUTLOUD knows we don’t do it for the money. We do it because we love to write and we feel passionate about the topics we bring to light in every issue.

When we first started, there was only a hand full of writers. Since then dozens of young adults have taken up the challenge to canvas our pages with words, thoughts, and incredible talent. And whether they have moved on to pursue journalism or writing in their professional lives, one thing is for sure, they have left their mark.
This year, we’ve had a huge increase of writers and photographers each adding their own flavor to OUTLOUD’s successful recipe. But writing is only half the work! Writing is about being heard—our name after all, is OUTLOUD. This year, the OUTLOUD Street Team is back in action and making sure our voice is heard. They’re an awesome bunch, so if you happen to run into them at an event don’t be shy, be sure to stop by and chat!
Everyone who works for OUTLOUD knows we don’t do it for the money. We do it because we love to write and we feel passionate about the topics we bring to light in every issue.
Back in July, they hosted a tent at Warped Tour which included a band signing with TV/TV. Told you they were bad-ass.
Since the first pages hit the print press, OUTLOUD writers have always had a deep connection with music. On our 9th year, our concert coverage continues to sky rocket and has led us to tap into MAJOR shows such as No Doubt, Green Day and Coldplay.
What’s in store for next year remains an exciting mystery. The one thing that is certain is that we couldn’t have made it this far without the support of all our past and present writers, readers, advertisers, and supporters. And of course a big shout out to our dedicated office staff who when all the writing and editing is done have the challenge of putting it all together, and making publishing magic—despite crazy deadlines and a Senior Editor suffering from writer’s block hours before going to print. Happy 9th Anniversary OUTLOUD!
