The day started off with cloudy skies. Despite the weather's unwillingness to compromise, nothing got in the way of fans at the Culture Room. The relatively small venue was packed with lines that seemed to go on for miles. The show time came around, and it felt like the times were finally a changin’.
The first opening band of the night went by the name of Days Difference. The band consisted of four endearingly pasty-skinned lads with button downs. The boys delivered upbeat rhythms and an undeniable amount of charm that would have given Morrissey a run for his money. The group was followed by Chicago natives Company of Thieves, who gave the crowd a taste of aristocratic spunk. The band’s leading lady, Genevieve Schatz, was impeccably dressed. From frilly frocks to refreshingly unusual beats, the quirky bunch was certainly a favorite among the "rowdy Fort Lauderdale crowd."

Once 9:30 p.m. struck the clock, the audience was getting quite antsy. Finally, the screen displayed those three long awaited words: Plain White T’s. The room reverberated with screams and yelps that stressed the overwhelming importance that this group held to the fans. The lights slowly dimmed, and it seemed as if we were all about to witness some kind of miracle. Although there was no pope to be found, the crowd would have begged to differ that something holy had just taken place. The night’s long awaited act finally made their way to the center of the stage.
Front man Tom Higgenson kept true to his name and sported his signature plain white tee. The performance took off on a remarkably impressive note, and not one single soul in that spot stood still. Harmonicas and accordions were only a portion of the instruments played. The band performed songs from their past and present albums, and somewhere between all these melodies, the band managed to serenade an awestruck fan with a birthday tune. Once the acoustic half of the show started, hearts began to melt and a day-dreaming trance quickly enchanted everyone.
The Chicago-raised gentlemen are very well known for putting on a nice show, but something tells me that this time they very well exceeded that expectation.
