This show was one I was looking forward to from the moment it was announced. Having last seen Alkaline Trio opening for Rise Against in October made this show something special. Coming straight from working a gospel show at Hard Rock Live, I was set to hear some good punk rock.

Saves The Day's Chris Conley, guitar & lead vocals,
and Manuel Carrero, bassist
Nightmare of You opened the night, an indie band from Brooklyn, New York. Playing songs off of their self-titled album along with a few new pieces off an upcoming release, Nightmare of You was a shockingly enjoyable group to start the night off.
Following was Saves the Day who took the stage with a chill and strong tight sound. Chris Conley’s high pitched voice rang strong throughout the venue. Their set was relaxing and calm, playing songs off Under the Boards, Can’t Slow Down, along with songs from their other four albums. Because it was Mother’s Day, during the set, guitarist Chris Conley dedicated a song to his mother, who was standing dead center on the barricade.

After their set, I pushed my way through the crowd to get closer to the stage. The curtains opened and out came Alkaline Trio, jumping right into their classic anthems and hits off their recent album Agony and Irony such as "Calling all Skeleton’s" and "I Found a Way."
Alkaline Trio’s hour and a half set reminded me of why I enjoy their music so much. Even if they didn’t perform "Time to Waste," they still hit other favorite tunes off Crimson. When "Sadie" was played, Matt Skiba, guitarist/vocalist of Alkaline Trio, dedicated it to his wife Monica who was sitting by the console. During their set, we even got to hear a brand new song off their next album.
Alkaline Trio had Revolution chanting and singing along to every song, enough to the point that Matt and Dan Andriano, bassist/vocalist of Alkaline Trio, could back away and just enjoy the crowd’s pleasant voices. Sunday’s concert was the ultimate way to close the weekend, with some good old-fashioned Alkaline Trio punk rock.
