The parking lot was packed. Not a single spot in sight. All of this for Johnny Winter at the Culture Room on Nov. 21, 2008. This was the perfect night for anyone over 30 to get together, have a couple of drinks, and listen to good old fashioned blues.
As J.P. Soars and the Red Hots took the stage, the crowd raised their heads to the tall stage, showing off their cowboy hats and bald spots. Everyone then started enjoying a mix of rockabilly and blues. J.P. Soars held the spotlight, playing a Gibson Hollow body, as the rest of the band kept the rhythm with an Upright bass and well played drums.

After a little break, J.P. returned to the stage to prove his talent by playing a guitar that resembles a shoebox; a curious instrument, yet not entirely out of place. Every song ended with tipsy audience members raising their beers in joy, and yet the Culture Room courtyard was still populated by uninterested people surrounding the bar and utilizing this time to socialize.
With the help of Paul Nelson on guitars, Scott Spray on bass and Vito Liuzzi on drums, Johnny soared through songs such as "I’m a Bluesman" and a vast collection of his classic material.

J.P. Soars
As the Johnny Winter announcement came about, his attraction brought every person as close to the stage as possible. A single solitary spotlight shone on him as he strummed his modified guitar. Due to his harsh life and health issues, Johnny Winter is now forced to perform while sitting down on a small stool, yet this diminishes nothing of his performance. In fact, this adds to his persona, someone that is still performing at his age and filling out clubs is one to be admired.
With the help of Paul Nelson on guitars, Scott Spray on bass and Vito Liuzzi on drums, Johnny soared through songs such as "I’m a Bluesman" and a vast collection of his classic material. Although they did not perform any of their most rock ‘n’ roll songs, the level of excitement from the fans showed no disappointment.
