It’s a common belief that your favorite performer or band is much better live, rather than on the radio or a CD. In the case of Staind, Papa Roach and Seether, not only are they spectacular live, but together they put on a show that sends you on a roller coaster of emotion from the heights of anger to the depths of sadness. But don’t worry – when the show was over fans were neither angry nor sad; they were just left with a feeling of euphoria and awe.
The Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood was one of the first few shows Staind was scheduled to perform to promote their latest CD The Illusion of Progress. Accompanying them on this tour for a select number of shows are the Californian rockers Papa Roach and the post-grunge quartet Seether.

After the opening act Red, Papa Roach was up, faced with the task of maintaining the high energy of their predecessor – and that’s exactly what they did. Jerry, Tobin and Tony walked on stage and took up their respective instruments, and then lead singer Jacoby walked coolly on stage as a myriad of girlish screams greeted him. The lights faded and with a bang and flash of light, Papa Roach began their set.
As Seether began with loud pumping music they ended with the indescribably powerful head bang worthy Remedy."

Papa Roach played favorites like "Getting Away With Murder," "Last Resort" and "Scars." Jacoby decided to even leave the stage behind and perform in the crowd, as security chased after him. They also played two new tracks off of their soon-to-be released CD Metamorphosis (dropping in February 2009): "Hollywood Horror" and "Lifeline" didn’t leave fans disappointed one bit.
Jacoby and his band mates got a well deserved break after about 40 minutes and it was Seether’s turn to do what they did best.
The South African based Seether began with "Gasoline," and from the moment the crowd heard the heavy bass and angst-ridden lyrics, Seether had them wrapped around their finger. As their set continued, they transitioned from their loud scream-filled songs to a more mellow tone with an acoustic version of "Broken," where the audience helped sing the part of Amy Lee with front man Shaun Morgan, creating an intimate moment between the fans and the band.

As Seether began with loud pumping music they ended with the indescribably powerful and head bang worthy "Remedy." Done for the night, Seether left an anxious crowd to wait for the main event.
The moment everyone was waiting for came close as techies prepared the stage for the band of the night, Staind. A black tarp masked the stage and bright lights shone through. "God’s Gonna Cut You Down" began slowly, the tarp fell and Aaron Lewis’s voice pierced the ears of the crowd-in a good way.
The audience was loving every minute of the show; from the moshing during "Please" and "For You" to the waving of hands and cell phones during the slow and emotive "It’s Been Awhile." added the perfect ending to the night with "Mudshovel," one of their most popular and intense songs.
This was a show not to be missed. If you did miss it, I bet whatever occupied your time wasn’t half as good as the mixture of Papa Roach, Seether and Staind.
