The Glass Bullets

By Sam Khoujinian

The intensity packed into The Glass Bullets' half-hour set is one that seems to have been long forgotten in today's local music scene.

Whereas most upcoming bands revert to used-and-abused chord progressions and basic song structures, TGB creates a musical frenzy with tone-shattering riffs, original rhythms and an almost unheard of integration of genres. To top it all off, they're live performance, coupled with the chaos produced from an incensed crowd, steals the show everywhere they go.

Comprised of Sam Khoujinian (lead vocals/guitar), Aviv Marotz (drums), Pedro Rodriguez (guitar) and Jorge L. Martos (bass), the quartet have been imprinting their invigorating sound on Miami's music for a mere year and half.

The band is primarily influenced by artists ranging from legends such as The Clash and The Dubliners to newer acts like Flatfoot 56, The Bronx, A.F.I., and punk heroes Rancid. Though their songs retain the pulsating sound of punk-rock, fans of The Fall of Troy and The Mars Volta have identified the influence of such bands in TGB's creatively composed tunes. Such original style is reflected in the diverse attendance of their shows.

You can catch TGB at nearly any venue in Miami and soon, and you'll probably be hearing about them across the nation. You can listen to a few of their tracks at www.myspace.com/theglassbullets.

The band is set to release their first full length in late May, so be sure to keep up with these upcoming punk pioneers!
