The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus talk about life on the Warped Tour
By Giselle Portuondo
“It feels like summer camp from sixth grade,” said Jon Wilkes, drummer for the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus when we sat down to talk about Warped Tour and the band’s early days.
The Florida natives got their start six years ago, although Wilkes has only been in the band for three. “I was from Jacksonville and [singer Joey Westwood] was from Jacksonville as well. The Red Jumpsuit was a really awesome local band that toured around regionally in mom’s minivan, and they just had a couple of guys that lost heart and wanted to move on from the band.”

As Wilkes explains, the band found the two friends and asked them an important question: are you ready to give up your life to follow this dream with us?
“[They said] we are ready to give up our lives and we are looking for people willing to do the same,” Wilkes said. “And so I said sign me up.”
They are now joining the Warped Tour family for the third time, and the band is stronger than ever. With a solid fan base and songs hitting the top of the charts, it’s safe to say that The Red Jumpsuit guys look like they’re definitely achieving their dreams.
As for what’s ahead for the band, Wilkes told us they have decided to release the song “Your Guardian Angel” as a single, and will be making a video for the song as well. If you are a Jumpsuit fan this is exciting news, as the single is definitely a fan favorite.

The band has no definite plans for another tour after Warped, but after the release of their new single, there’s no doubt the band will be hitting the road again pretty soon.
