The Alternative Press Tour was without a doubt one of the best shows to hit South Florida in a long time. It made its way into Ft. Lauderdale’s very own Club Revolution with acts such as Cute Is What We Aim For, Envy on the Coast, As Tall as Lions and Circa Survive, and fans weren’t at all disappointed.

Once inside, the excitement was overwhelming. First up was Envy on the Coast. These five Long Island boys sure set the mood for the rest of the night with catchy songs and an energetic performance. The band had the fans screaming and cheering for their songs, and the energy bled over into As Tall as Lions’ set.

But these fellow Long Islanders caught fans by surprise with a mellow sound that was clearly influenced by bands such as Muse. As Tall as Lions won over the hearts of every fan in the room—or at least all the girls. With soft yet very powerful songs they kept the fans singing along and at the end gave them a little extra by bringing out Circa Survive’s lead vocalist Anthony Green. They both sang the last song of the set and fans were left with smiles on their faces.

Circa Survive was about to hit the stage, and fans were anticipating the best show of the night. Curtains went up and with a single beat of the drums, Anthony Green exploded with energy as he performed the first song of their set, “The Glorious Nosebleed.” Without a doubt, Circa Survive was the liveliest band of the night. They kept the crowd singing and jumping, and crowd surfers had it their way. Circa Survive also performed two new songs from their new album On Letting Go, which hits stores on May 29th. Judging from those two songs, the record should be one of the best albums coming out this year. They closed with “In Fear and Faith” and really gave the best performance of the evening.

Finally AP headliners Cute Is What We Aim For came out with a blast and the crowd went absolutely hysterical. Performing songs from their successful debut album The Same Old Blood Rush with a New Touch fans sang along to their catchy and happy tunes. Their performance was incredibly fun and spirited, leaving no fans disappointed.

Overall it was a fun and exciting night. These four talented bands can expect to have a successful show next time they decide to hit South Florida, and hopefully we won’t have to wait that long.
