Fall of Troy

The Fall of Troy started quite a riot with their recent performance at South FLorida's Culture Room. The sold out event had restless fans waiting in line for over three hours and featured Criteria, HORSE the Band and headliner Poison the Well.
The Fall of Troy set free their furious hardcore and progressive sound. Thomas Erak (lead vocals/guitar) and Tim Ward (vocals/bass) unleashed breathtaking jam sessions complemented by drummer Andrew Forman's break beat solos.

After the band's exhausting performance, OUTLOUD caught up with Erak at a Pollo Tropical across the street from the Culture Room, where he devoured his plate of Caribbean food. It was an oddly humbling experience being around Erak and his quirky character--a complete 360 from the energetic front man we're used to seeing on stage.
"I really get in the zone," he said. "I kind of go to another level playing music. The aggressive side of me comes out a whole lot more."
A virtuoso on the axe, Erak has been recently compared to legends such as Jimi Hendrix, which suits the band's prog-rock musical direction. They began as a four-piece band formally known as The Thirty Years War, with extra guitarist and vocalist Mike Munro. After he left the band changed their band name to The Fall of Troy.

Even though their performances have calmed down much since signing with Equal Vision Records, the band has grown stronger and gained a wider range of listeners and fans.
"Sometimes you have fans that love you, sometimes you have fans that hate you, sometimes you just have fans that are super weird that invade your space," he said as he played with the fork on the table. "And sometimes you meet the coolest people you have ever met in your entire life all in one night. And that is tour."

Erak said he has dedicated his life to music--a passion that shows on their latest album Doppelganger, which mixes furious guitar work with fast time changes and hooky choruses.
Overall, The Fall of Troy is a type of band that should come with a warning label.
"Have an open mind," Erak said. "Don't expect anything ever out of us because we will do the exact opposite from what you think we'll do," he said as he finished up his meal and the interview.
If you want to catch The Fall of Troy don't miss your opportunity to see them live in action this month. They'll be playing three Florida venues from May 26th - 28th as part of a new tour, The Black Unicorn Tour.
