WebCandy II

By Vanessa Puig

Still need some time to kill at work or between classes? More wacky websites from someone who should probably step away from the keyboard.

4Q.cc--Did you know Chuck Norris's tears can cure cancer? Too bad he never cries. Possibly the strangest homage ever, 4Q is best known for its Chuck Norris Random Fact Generator. Perhaps they're a little exaggerated, but the "facts" about Walker, Texas Ranger are winning over millions of web surfers worldwide. Vin Diesel and Mr. T also have their own fact generators.

SequentialPictures.com--Conceived in 1999, the independent filmmakers of Sequential Pictures specialize in poking fun at some of the most well known movies of all time. Parodies include The Matrix, Cast Away, Fight Club, and the ever-popular Star Wars series.

AllTooFlat.com--This website is certainly a smorgasbord of quirk. The ATF team attempts to debunk myths (Is it really possible to overfeed your goldfish?), creates Scientist Trading Cards, and plays some of the most creative pranks on the unsuspecting, like turning Manhattan's Astor Cube sculpture into a giant Rubik's Cube.

McVideoGame.com--Satirical criticism of global conglomerates has found a home online with a video game of super-sized proportions. Created by Italian design company Molleindustria, this online game allows players to run a certain popular fast food chain and question corporate policies like exploiting underdeveloped countries and minimum-wage workers. No matter what your take is on the topic, the game is certainly addicting.

TheOnion.com--The Onion, also known as "America's Finest News Source," is a sardonic weekly publication that touches on what makes the world tick. Headlines focus on myriad topics from education ("Ant Farm Teaches Children About Toil, Death") to global conflicts ("Fritolaysia Cuts Off Chiplomatic Relations With Snackistan").

Japander.com--American celebrities may refuse to peddle merchandise stateside, but they're more than willing to sell out on the other side of the world. Japander features A-list stars in Japanese advertisements, such as Bruce Willis hawking gasoline and Mr. Schwarzenegger himself hopped up on a popular Japanese energy drink.
