Author, Bret Easton Ellis
Sept. 24th at Books and Books in Coral Gables
By Dara Bramson
Bret Easton Ellis may be the epitome of a revolutionary author. At a Books & Books signing in Coral Gables on Sept. 24, he read from his newest novel "Lunar Park," a semi-autobiographical tale/ghost story progeny to one of his most acclaimed works, "American Psycho." The main character, Bret Easton Ellis, explores the pitfalls of success at an early age, AND THE drug abuse and the death of his father, ALL THE while dissecting the suburb he now calls home.
"Lunar Park" has received rave reviews, even from author Stephen King, publicly not an Ellis fan. "No one said being a Bret Easton Ellis fan was easy."
"I wrote the first draft of 'Less Than Zero' on Crystal Meth when I was 18. It was 4,000 pages long, terrible, and I was so wasted I still thought it was good. From then on, I have always written sober."
After being asked how life feels now that he's clean, he smirked and answered boldly, "Who said I was clean?"
Ellis was at the Books and Books located at 265 Aragon Avenue Coral Coral Gables, FL on September 24th, 2005.
