Local Band Is Picture Perfect:
The Monday Photo

By Leah Pritchett

Talent is truly hard to find. Music nowadays appeals more to the eye and to the ear. It’s time for people to put their ears to work and notice the sound of a mind-boggling local Miami band-- The Monday Photo, a band that uses their own ideas of everyday life to compose. But how exactly did these three members come together?

Leo Marcelo-Vargas, 28, (vocals) and George Isa, 28, (guitar) met at a day job and immediately built a friendship over their interest in music. One night, they began to speak of their futures, their plans or at least what they dreamed of.

Isa openly told Marcelo-Vargas that he wanted to start a band; Marcelo-Vargas replied that he could sing. They began to play together and got a brilliant response from family and friends. After that, Cristian A. Vargas (27) (Marcelo-Vargas’s brother) joined the band as the bass player, and that’s when their first lyrics were written.

"After that, we met our first drummer and played a few shows and again the response was very good. The band kept on writing some real interesting stuff and started to find a sound," Marcelo-Vargas said. "Because of many differences, the first drummer was out and soon after came Christian Garafola. He was able to compliment the band's sound."

The band decided that they didn’t want to select a genre of music; they wanted their music to come out naturally, though U2, The Beatles and New Order have influenced them.

The Monday Photo’s music expresses wholesome sensations that are captured in just one heartbeat.

"These guys are very intelligent individuals. They make music with beautiful melodies and incredible lyrics. They're awesome!" Jon Millo, 26, TMP’s manager, said.

The band is heading back to the studio to finish up two tracks and getting ready for a tour around Miami.
