America’s spot for fun in the sun, South Beach, welcomed the 7th annual Miami Fashion Week of the Americas on May 11, 2005. The four-day event started with a press conference held inside the illustrious Fashion Tent, followed by a sexy showcase of lingerie and swimwear for Spring 2006.       The event brought together 34 designers from 14 countries all over the world. Throughout the week, there were displays of the hottest upcoming jewelry, handbags and sneakers, not to mention gorgeous models working it in spirited and stunning designs.       This year, Fashion Week focused on the World's sizzling hot younger designers, including student showcases from DASH and A.I. The glamour didn't end there; the City of Milan also gave us a peek at its "special code" 6267.       Highlights of the event also included the designs from Russia'a Vemina Fashion House and Mia Shvili. It's easy to say that Russia easily rocked the tent.

Would it really be a Miami event without the parties? Of course not-- each night ended with an after party in some of Miami's hottest clubs (like Opium Garden and Crobar). The music throughout fashion week was a blend of some of today's hottest hip-hop and R&B songs, mixed by DJ Entice.       Fashion Week was graced by special performances by Seven, Popstarz and the Hip Hop Kidz. American Idol's Nadia Turner also made an appearance.       Is Miami Fashion Week the hottest thing to hit South Beach? With events like the Latin Billboard Awards last April and MTV's Video Music Awards coming to Miami for a second year, people are going to start wondering if New York City is losing its appeal.       Has South Beach finally become hotter than the infamous Big Apple? Are people choosing the hot and sexy beaches filled with beautiful people over the glamour of New York? Maybe you should attend next year's Miami Fashion Week; then you would know what all the fuss is about.
