Red Sun Down
Music that gives you goosebumps...

Reviewed By: Ismael Arroyo

If you're anyone attuned to the South Florida local scene you must have heard of these guys; if not find out. They are called Red Sun Down, made up of singer Jacob Addicott (20), guitarist Justin Sclafani (20), bassist Drew Harris (21), and drummer Leor Manelis (21): a fearsome foursome of powerful music makers. When I stumbled into their show on one crisp night at The Alley, a local Miami rock club, I was taken a back by the raw energy that emanated from the stage. Once I regained the ability to breathe again, I immediately approached the band to tell them how much I enjoyed their show. I was rewarded with a demo, which until this day has not left my CD player. But enough about me kissing their asses, let's get down to the important stuff.

When it comes to influences, they have a very broad range; from underground hip-hop to The Doors. Jacob told me that he was inspired by Jim Morrison of The Doors to become a lyrist. Over the past two years, they've played such venues as the Metal Factory, The Culture Room, and Churchhill's just to name a few. When I asked the band how they would classify themselves, Jacob said, "the mix of hard rock on good lyrics." Upon listening to the demo you should feel the emotions streaming forth engaging all of your senses. Their music seems to move and shape around the Jacob's voice. The mix of heavy notes and the occasional dulcet tones of a violin on some of their songs is a real nice touch. A welcome change from the noise out there today.

Like all bands out there, they want to do this professionally. They are just waiting to be signed and they are working their asses off to make it happen. I expect a lot of good things from them. If you have time please go and check them out, it is definitely worth it. If you would like to know more about Red Sun Down check out:
