With a unique, smooth blend of six guys from South Florida, local rock band Day Music Died is sure to rise to the top - fast.

Before their six-piece lineup was final in October 2002, they went through various members and name changes. Proposing the name MEST, which stood for various things such as Monkeys Eat Stale Bread and Matter Energy Space Time, the group finalized their band, now composed of Tony Guilarte, guitar, Eddie Planas, bass, Bert Casanova, keyboard/sax, Gabriel Fernandez, vocals, Nick Lebess, drums, and David Alvarez, guitar. Their manager, Lou Romero, was once their drummer, but now helps the band get the gigs they play and the attention they deserve.

While playing their music, numerous things run through each member's mind like: "Don't mess up!" along with one of their top priorities being, "Are they having fun?"

"We wouldn't be able to do what we do… we probably wouldn't be here without the support from our fans and friends," states the band. DMD says that it makes their day when a fan comes up to talk to them, emails the group or just knows the words to their songs.

Like all bands, they make mistakes. At a show at Honey, Gaby hit a fan on the head by accident with his cordless microphone during their set. At another show, Nick fell off the back of the stage while trying to sit back down on his seat.

Having influences that stem from the Dave Matthews Band, their main goal is to get the hell out of Miami. Some artists they would love to tour with are the Dave Matthews Band and Led Zepplin - that is if they were still around. When asked their opinion about the most overplayed and hyped bands in America today, the group all agreed that Good Charlotte, 3 Doors Down and Godsmack.

Day Music Died is not like other bands; not only do they have drive and ambition, but they have respect, love and loyalty from their friends, family and obviously, their fans. Hopefully, someday soon, they won't just be Day Music Died, the South Florida local band - they'll be famous.
